The first step is to recognize this transformation as a part of the maturing man and the maturing relationship. If a woman can accept this, then half the job is done.

What woman can forget the feel of those first conversations with her man? The endless days and nights on phone (when you were not in company) and the magical moments spent sitting next to each other, just talking and getting to know one another. Nothing can beat the charm and romance of those first few meetings. Who would have thought that something could go horribly wrong even in this seemingly perfect setting?

Now is the time is you begin to question whether it even existed. You long for the times when it used to be fun and nice with him around. Now everything seems dull and dead. His interest in you is at its lowest and you two have started living in a separate world from each other. This makes you wonder, “What went wrong?” or “What did I do that wasn’t correct?” and many other questions similar to these.

What do women do to battle this? The most obvious is to ask the man what is wrong. This doesn’t draw any answers and they show ignorance that any such problem actually exists. The woman probes for an answer again and again and again. The man feels she is nagging him and draws further into his shell.

Does all this mean that there is something wrong with the woman? Not at all. She just needs to understand that a man’s way of dealing with a relationship is different from her way. In the initial phase, men seek fun and a light mood. That is why the going out, the movies, the dinners and the romance all happened. This is the stage where they are trying to know the woman and when their mind is not clouded with the thoughts of a commitment.

As the relationship progresses, they start getting emotionally involved. This is not an easy process for them. After all, they start thinking about letting go of a lot of important things such as their ‘freedom’. This starts filling their minds and thoughts with insecurities. It will make them question everything right from their careers to work places to hobbies to everything else including the woman. They will start wondering whether the woman they are seeing is actually the right one.

Quite understandably, women begin worrying at this stage. They start thinking that they are lacking something and that the man is no longer interested. However, if women learn to wait at this stage, their man will be theirs forever.

The first step is to recognize this transformation as a part of the maturing man and the maturing relationship. If a woman can accept this, then half the job is done.

The next step is to be patient and let the man deal with it in his way. Constant questioning and probing will make him further question his decision about her. Women obviously don’t want him thinking negatively of them. It may also make him feel worthless about keeping his woman unfulfilled and put an added burden on his already-reeling mind.

Finally, even as the woman let him be, don’t forget that she has the magic wand of her feminine charm. With her care and love, she should be able to stay connected with him and make him feel confident and wise about his decision of choosing her. Always remember that this is a passing phase. If a woman sticks it out with him during this time, supporting him in gentle, subtle way, then he’ll be happy to stay with her forever.
