The Bulgarian capital is in the centre of the Balkan Peninsula which means short trips to some of the countries nearby - Greece, Serbia, Romania, Montenegro or something more exotic like Turkey. But first they are a lot of things that can be seen around Sofia.

The mountains

Vitosha mountain is one of the favourite spots for hiking around the capital city. It also provides excellent conditions for skiing and alpinism. Not far from them is Rila mountain, home of the highest peak on the Balkan Peninsula – Musala standing at 2925 m. . The fans or winter sports should visit the Borovets resort. For a safe and pleasant voyage Bulrent  suggest you to prepare the car for winter conditions: this includes winter tires, snow chains, winter windscreen washer fluid and last but not least check the freezing point of the antifreeze solution in your car with a antifreeze tester. Usually they cost less than a 1 EUR and you can find them in the bigger supermarkets or gas stations. Renting a car will save you time and money, because during the winter season all rental car companies offer this free of charge.

Around 90 km. South-East from it is the city of Velingrad which has many natural springs with curative properties.
Next in the list the well-known Bulgarian ski resort Bansko. There are plenty of hotels and restaurants and the majority of the people in the town are engaged in the recreational business and will be happy to welcome you as their guests . In case the client wants to admire a beautiful and untouched landscape while driving without leaving the comfort of his hired car we suggest him to take road E79 through the Kresna Gorge.
