Big Boss Kannada is a reality TV show that is broadcast in India that is hosted by Sudeep on Viacom 18’s Colors Kannada. The show is currently on its fourth season this year and started to air its first season in 2013. The first season became so popular among its viewers and was the number one reality show in South India.
In its second season, the show became even more popular and increased its viewers by 25%. This could be attributed to the show moving to Star Network’s Suvarna TV. However, after ETV Kannada was rebranded to Colors Kannada, the show moved from Survana TV to Colors Kannada for season three and four. On the third season, the show dropped in popularity due to a scandal that involved a housemate that was sent home parking. But the fourth season shot in popularity until film producers went to protest demanding actors not to participate in the show since it was affecting the popularity of other movies in the Box office.
Bigg Boss House :
The Bigg Boss’ House is the house where the actors live as they act for the whole reality show. The house is constructed for every season. For the first two seasons, the house was at an unknown location in Lonavala. From the third season, the house was located in Bengaluru. This house is well furnished and decorated and has amenities like an indoor gymnasium and a swimming pool. Toiletries and a large bedroom are shared among the contestants. The house also has a confession room where the contestants would go for nomination and other activities. The house has no WiFi, no clocks, no access to television, no access to writing, no telephones just like other Big Brother shows.
Rules of the House :
Just like all Big Brother houses, this house has its rules which have not been clearly released to the public. Some of the known rules are like the rule where the contestants are not supposed to speak in any other language other than Kannada. The housemates are not supposed to leave the house without permission and also not allowed to discuss nominations among themselves. They are not supposed to tamper with electrical equipment and any other gadgets in the house. Moreover, the housemates are not supposed to sleep during the day. When the housemates break the rules, there is a possibility of them being nominated by a contestant who has earned the special privilege.
Format of the episodes :
The show is aired from 9:00PM to 10:00PM every day. In the ongoing season four, a supplement show is aired on Kannada Colors TV Live Special from 10:00 PM to 11:00 PM containing the unseen video clips. The supplement show, Big Boss Night Shift, is hosted by Rehman Hasseb, an alumnus of season three. Season one was aired from Monday to Thursday and a special episode would be aired on Friday where Sudeep would carry out the week’s eviction. Sudeep would also interview the evicted contestant on Saturday. Season two, three and four would be aired from Monday to Friday and the eviction episode with Sudeep aired on Saturdays with special interviews by Sudeep on Sundays
