You can use gettext with Rails too. Also Rails 1.2 RC1 is out with Unicode support. So, Rails has internationalization support.

Excuse me, I don't know how a framework can make using gettext easy. Please see the documentation here if you think it's not easy enough we should complain about it to the developers:
